Legendary Hearts of Oak player, Amankwah Mireku has stated without any sense of equivocation that his former club will beat Kotoko on Sunday.

Amankwah Mireku is convinced that the current crop of Hearts of Oak players are head and shoulders above their Kumasi Asante Kotoko counterparts and does not see the Porcupines surviving their onslaught on Sunday.

Amankwah’s strong sense of conviction is premised on the team’s resurgence which has seen them pick seven points from their last three matches.

Ahead of the much-anticipated tie between the two historic clubs, GhanaWeb’s Sports editor Daniel Oduro engaged Amankwah Mireku and Eric Bekoe in a rich conversation about their experience in the Super Clash and expectations of Sunday.

It was during the interview that a confident Amankwah bragged that coach Odoom and his charges will emerge victors on Sunday.

“Hearts have the better chance on Sunday. We all know that Hearts lost its first two matches but approaching the Kotoko game, the last two games, they’ve won and had a point against WAFA. So it tells you the motivation and dedication they have for Sunday’s game. The match is going to be interesting because both teams are in form and that’s where I’m seeing the whole show. But draw (against WAFA) win, win (against Dwarfs and Liberty) another win (against Kotoko) must come.

His submission was flatly rejected by Eric Bekoe who noted that Kotoko with Yacouba leading the line will cause Hearts problems on Sunday.

Yacouba is yet to find a goal since the league commenced amid speculations about his future at the club but Bekoe is optimistic the Burkinabe international will turn up and win the game for Kotoko.

Bekoe noted that despite two defeats in their last three games, Maxwell Konadu will be able to galvanize his boys to defeat Hearts.

“Our key player is going through a lot so it will take something for him to produce magic on Sunday. Yacouba is the eye of both teams. It’s a Sogne Yacouba Copa Del Rey that we are going to play. So it depends on how they will psyche him to play. I know we’re are going to win because we deserve it and also because we’ve done enough preparations to win this one.

Sunday’s match will be the 12th meeting between the two sides at the Accra Sports Stadium since the 2006/2007 season.

In the previous eleven games, Kotoko have won five whiles Hearts have pulled just three victories with three ending in stalemates.

The match is scheduled for 15:00 GMT and ghanaweb.com will bring you live text commentary.
