Tema, July 1, GNA-Shaibu Mahama of Adabraka clocked 33.20 minutes, to win this year's Sakumono Keep Fit Club Republic Day Marathon held at Sakumono, near Tema on Friday. The 10-kilometre race which was organised by the Sakumono Estates Keep Fit Club, was jointly sponsored by Guinness Ghana Limited and Ccoca Cola Bottling Company Limited.
Barnabas Acquah came second with a time of 33.23 minutes, while Mustapha Mahama took the, third position with a time of 34 minutes. Veronica Botwe came first in the Ladies category with a time of 42.32 minutes, Margarest Akorsiho placed second with a time of 45 minutes while Joyce Mensah took the third position with a time of 46 minutes.
Kingsford Atsi Mensah won the Under-15 category with Fred Atsi Mensah and Richard Yao following in that order. Samuel Offei was the oldest competitor to have finished the race in the Men's category, while Lina Sappor won the Ladies event. Mr James Agbedor, Chairman of the Sakumono Keep Fit Club called on the members to take active interest in sports so that they could stay healthy at all times.
