Paul Chen and Constance Awuni win Latex Foam 2019 Masters Championship

The Latex Foam 2019 Masters Championship produced 2 first-time winners in a keenly contested competition over 36 holes at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi on 6th and 7th March 2020.

Paul Chen, playing off handicap 14 moved up to first from second position with net scores of 70 on day 1 and 73 on day 2.

He was closely followed by Emmanuel Kyei who returned net scores of 72 on

both days.

Prof Bernard Baiden rallied from 11th position to end up in third after returning the best score of 71 for day 2 to add to his previous score of 74 on day 1.

Constance Awuni, multiple Asantehene Open winner, broke the jinx of the Masters event when she returned a total net score of 147 over 36 holes to beat the defending champion and multiple Masters winner Felicity Okyei-Gyeabour by 4 shots.

Felicity returned an impressive net score of 69 on day 2 but was not enough to overhaul Constance’s consistent scores of 72 and 75 over the 2 days.

Reina Asiamah returned a total score of 162 for the third position.

In the support (mixed event) category for non-qualifiers and guests over 18 holes, the top three golfers all returned a net score of 72.

The final positions were therefore determined on count back.

Leslie Boakye-Yiadom emerged the winner followed by Michael Boateng and Mark Asiamah.

In the Professional support event, PQ Amponsah from Obuasi returned a score of 71 (-1) to beat Maxwell Owusu-Bonsu and Kwabena Poku both from RGCK to joint 2nd with a score of 72(E) over 18 holes.

The 4th and final position was taken by Kwame Korsah also from RGCK with a score of 73 (+1).

In her opening remarks, Ms. Gloria Poku, the PRO of Latex Foam Kumasi Branch singled out the contributions made by the company towards the sponsorship of both the Masters and Monthly Medal competitions over the years.

She also praised the efforts of management of RGCK in the organisation of the tournament.

The occasion was used to outdoor a new product line, living room sofa sets, to golfers and guests present.

Finally, all golfers went home smiling with products from Latex Foam, RGCK’s partner for life.

Delivering the closing remarks on behalf of RGCK Management, Prof Bernard Baiden, thanked Latex Foam for their immense support to the club through the sponsorship of the Masters Golf Championship and Monthly Medal Competitions.

He confirmed that the number of competitors in the monthly medal competitions has gone up significantly and attributed that the sponsorship

received from Latex Foam.

He finally encouraged members to patronized the high-quality products from Latex Foam and also market their products to both golfers and non-golfers.
