The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah will on Monday May 4, embark on a general inspection exercise at the Essipong Sports Stadium, Sekondi.
The Sports Minister will lead a team to inspect the facility around 12.00pm GMT to pave way for major renovation works to commence.
The facility, built ahead of Ghana hosting the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournament has been wasting away due to a poor maintenance culture.

The sports minister’s inspection team comprises the Western Regional Minister, Hon Kobby Okyere Darko, Hon. Joe Ghartey (MP), the Minister of Railways Development and Mr. Anthony K. K. Sam, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi Takoradi.
The rest are Frank Quist, Chief Director, MInistry of Youth and Sports, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, Board Chairman, National Sports Authority and Professor Peter Twumasi, Director General, National Sports Authority.
It is not known yet when exactly the renovation works at the Essipong stadium will commence but its believed a date will be communicated after the inspection exercise today.
