Black Stars legend Abedi "Pele" Ayew has disclosed that former Hearts of Oak great and 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner Mohammed Polo was his idol while growing up as a footballer.
Mohammed Polo who was popularly known as the 'dribbling magician' is arguably the most technically gifted player to have ever emerged from Ghana.
According to Abedi who was part of the Ghanaian team that won the 1982 AFCON, he was always inspired to see Mohammed Polo playing on the pitch.
He added that Polo’s ability to run and dribble with the ball was something that he had to learn while growing up.
“As colt’s player I had a card to watch most Black Stars games and in fact, whenever I see Polo playing I learn things from him,” he told GTV Sports Plus.
