An avid fan of Accra Hearts of Oak SC and sports pundit, Maxwell Asabere has alleged that Board member Alhaji Akambi's exoneration regarding a bribery allegation was influenced by the bankroller of the club Togbe Afede XIV.

Several weeks ago, veteran football administrator and Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak SC, Alhaji Akambi was accused by a section of the Phobian fans fo accepting a bribe of GHS 200 from Nkoranza Warriors president, Leslie Kuuku Bartels for a possible transfer of Emmanuel Sarkodie to the rainbow club.

Fast forward, the three-member committee which was formed to investigate the allegations by the club's hierarchy exonerated Alhaji Akambi from the allegations levelled against him.

However, it seems the verdict did not go down well with Maxwell Asabere who was formally the general secretary of the club's supporters wing, the National Chapters Committee.

Speaking to the issue in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM, he said “he was exonerated by the Board Chairman long before the committee even presented its report officially to the Board fee days ago. Yes, he’s free by the absolute uncompromising powers of his friend but the report says otherwise,"

“Ask about the reason there were heated exchanges between Frank Nelson (Committee Chair) and Togbe (Board Chair) over the issue. Please he has been exonerated by the Board Chairman, not the committee,”

“Togbe Afede XIV made sure Kuuku Bartels didn’t appear before the committee. The NCC is meeting this week on it and has invited me but I am not sure I will make it,” Mr. Asabere concluded.
