President of Cheetah Football Club, Abdul Haye Yartey has supported the mass exodus of players from the domestic leagues despite its negative effects on the league.
Abdul Yartey who also doubles as a player agent says allowing players to leave early at a very young age helps them in their development and career.
Yartey who at a point was the manager of Black Stars and Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu explained that the country does not have the needed facilities to develop young talents thus the reason why he supports the move for the player exodus.
“I always say if you have a quality young talent at a very young age from 17 going to 18 it is the best for the player, for yourself and the country for him to leave the shores of Ghana to continue his career because we don’t have the needed facility or the idea to groom them into better players.” He told Starr Sports.
“The system is not favorable for their development, the probability that a very good young talent will come out shinning in Ghana here is difficult. I don’t want to mention names but there have been fantastic players that have come out, gone through the GPL and they’ve become wasted.
"All of them can’t go out as well but it is good if they do, it’s the best to help the player, help your team because you are going to benefit financially and help the country because these players will be called into the National team.
”Samuel Owusu went out from Vision and he is playing for the Black Stars. When Atsu and co pass out from the Black Stars they are going to replace him,” he added
