Accra Hearts of Oak captain Mohammed Abdul Fatawu has said he shares the same dream with fans of the club as the club aims to end its trophy drought.

The Phobians have not won a title (League/FA Cup Cup) since the 2008/2009 season when we won our 20th league crown and our last success in the knockout competition coming in 2000 for our 10th cup win.

And Fatawu said he shares the pain of the fans who have remained loyal to the club all this while as the team seeks to end this rather unfortunate run.

“It has been long since we won a major trophy and as captain of this great club, I feel the pain of the fans who in divers’ ways have supported us all this while”, Fatawu told Hearts Media.

He added: “I challenge myself to end this drought and together with my colleagues, we are constantly working hard to put smiles on the faces of the fans”.

“There is enough talent at the club to see us through and we cannot wait for football to resume in Ghana after the coronavirus pandemic”, he said, adding that soon “our fans will be smiling”.

The local Black Stars player, therefore, appealed to the fans not to lose hope in the team but, rather continue with their support as they (players) have resolved to go the extra mile to repay the trust imposed in them.

“I look forward to the day when I will lift a trophy and dedicate to the fans for been with us through these trying moments and, together we will all celebrate”, he closed.
