Former Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Kingson has revealed that he panicked when he was called for the 2006 World Cup.

Olele, as widely known in the football circles, joined the team as the fourth choice goalkeeper ahead of the tournament.

According to him, he worked hard when he joined the team and was eventually named as the first choice goalkeeper of the team.

“I was panicking [when called for the 2006 World Cup]. It was another story for me on that issue because I was called as a fourth goalkeeper," he told Joy FM in an interview.

"Sammy Adjei was first, [then there was] George Owu and Philemon Macarthy but by hard work and by the grace of God, I was named the first choice for the first match against Italy,” he added.

Kingson kept the post throughout the tournament during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
