Former President JJ Rawlings and Boxing legend, Azumah Nelson Ghanaian former professional boxer, Azumah Nelson has disclosed that his career in professional boxing was saved by former President J.J Rawlings. According to him, he almost gave up boxing in his earlier stages to join the military but the former President talked him out of it. “I liked the discipline in the military. Azumah 'Zoom Zoom' Nelson won his titles on 8th December, 1984 in San Joan Puerto Rico, defeating Wilfredo Gomez in the 11th round. He was also to win in another weight category, the Super featherweight.
