About 250 restaurants, hotels and other hospitality facilities have been shut down nationwide.

The exercise was undertaken by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for non-compliance with hospitality standards.

According to the GTA, the facilities will not be re-licensed until authorities meet the requirements.

Speaking to XYZ Business News, the Acting Chief Executive of the GTA, Mr. Donkor said this action was necessary because many in the hospitality industry “have put up some indifferent posture towards best practices”.

Although the exercise will be thorough, Mr. Donkor said there will be no revenue losses if affected companies act in accordance with the Authority’s recommendations.

“We have to do that to set the standard for others” he said.
