President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that 170,000 jobs have been generated under the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative.

He attributed this job creation to the establishment of 321 businesses across some districts in the country.

President Akufo-Addo detailed that of the 321 businesses, 211 were new medium to large-scale enterprises, while the remaining 110 have been revitalised after the government injected substantial funds into them to facilitate the operation and expansion of their production facilities.

Following his visit to Blue Skies Limited in Nsawam, President Akufo-Addo expressed in a Facebook post, "I am proud to report that my administration has facilitated the development of three hundred and twenty-one (321) 1D1F projects. These include two hundred and eleven (211) new medium to large scale enterprises and the strategic revival of one hundred and ten (110) existing enterprises through significant capital investments for the expansion of production facilities and product diversification."

He further stated that these enterprises have been set up in one hundred and forty-two districts across the country, spanning all sixteen regions, thus achieving fifty-four percent district coverage.

"The goal is to introduce a 1D1F project in every district. Moreover, during this period, approximately one hundred and seventy thousand jobs have been created by operational enterprises under this innovative 1D1F Programme," he added.

The rollout of the 1 District 1 Factory initiative was to change the nature of Ghana's economy from one which is dependent on the import and export of raw materials to a more focused one on manufacturing, value addition, and export of processed goods.

1D1F seeks to establish a factory in all districts across the country.
