Agona Swedru, May 26, GNA - The African Development Bank (ADB) has voted 30 million dollars for 13 districts to help improve economic and social life of the people.

The government of Ghana would add 10 percent of the 30 million dollars to support the projects.

Mr N'Guessan Serge Marie, Task Manager of the African Development Bank in West Africa, said this at a meeting with heads of departments, chiefs, artisans, assembly members and contractors at Agona Swedru. Mr Marie said the projects, which would take off next year, would tackle areas such as education, employment, environment, roads, small-scale businesses and micro finance credit. ADB would finance the election of 800 unit committees in all the 13 districts next year.

Mr Marie said consultants to the projects would arrive in the country in December to conduct feasibility studies on the projects that are expected to start in 2006.

Mr Guy Bobson Lee Siilo, the Agona District Coordinating Director, said the assembly would provide human resource, finance and technical assistance to support effective implementation of the projects.
