BRT management admits wrongs in insurance blunder

Management of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has admitted that the shuttle buses deployed onto the streets Monday only had a DV number plate for it.

Reports confirmed Monday that the fleet of buses that hit the streets in Accra, yesterday were neither insured nor registered.

The Marketing and Communications Manager of the Gt. Accra Passenger Transport Executive in charge of the BRT system, Roland Bruce earlier revealed that the buses are yet to be insured by the close of the week.

“We are in the process of registering all those buses, and actually ensuring that hopefully by the close of this week, when we are done with the test-run, all the buses should be insured and registered,” Bruce disclosed in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Gt. Accra Passenger Transport Executive, Samson Gyamenah later in media interviews corroborated the earlier position stated by his colleague that the buses are yet to be insured.

“We are working with Regency men to insure all the buses; they are in the process of completing the provision of the cover since we need the registration to be able to conclude that, he noted.

He nonetheless stated that “using DV plates to carry passengers for this exercise was not the right thing to do”
