CAL gain pushes up Accra bourse index

Accra, May 27, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) All-Share Index, the benchmark measure of the Accra bourse, jumped up by 90.59 points on Monday on the back of a good performance by CAL limited. CAL, in the middle of a dispute between a major shareholder and the Chief Executive, sold 14.133 shares, nearly all the shares that changed hands on the bourse, and gained 0.40 GH cedis on its share price. The shareholder wants the CEO removed from office. The GSE All-Share Index closed trading at 9,844.71 points from 9,754.12 points.

Change for the year to date now stands at 49.17 per cent. Traded volumes ended at 14,362,200 with CAL selling 14,133,600 shares. On the broader market there were four price changes, three up one down.

CAL gained 0.40 GH cedis at 1.05 GH cedis, Ecobank Ghana Limited (EBG) was up 0.01 GH cedis at 3.24 GH cedis, State Insurance Company went up 0.01 Ghana cedis 0.48 GH cedis while SG-SSB Bank lost 0.07 GH cedis at 1.40 GH cedis.

Market capitalisation ended the session up at GH¢15,209.00.
