Ajumako (C/R), July 27, GNA - Mr John J. Amoah, the Founder of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Teachers Cooperative Credit Union, has suggested the establishment of "Ghana Co-operative Credit Union Bank" to operate in line with rural banks.
Mr Amoah, who was addressing the eighth annual general meeting of the Teachers Credit Union at Ajumako, appealed to the Credit Union Associations (CUAs) headquarters in Accra to liaise with Parliament to pass a law for the bank to be established.
He and 10 other past officers of the CUA were honoured for their vision, foresight, dedication and meritorious services that had made the credit union at Ajumako what it is today.
Mr Justice Owusu Amankwah, District Co-operative Officer, appealed to the incoming officers and board members to follow the shinning example of their predecessors and move the union forward.
Mr Stephen Benneth, the Board Chairman, said membership drive would be their first target and promised to extend the facility to the three Senior High Schools in the district at Bisease, Ajumako Mando and Enyan Denkyira to cultivate the habit of savings among the youth.
In addition, non-teachers and the local community would also be given a place to join the credit union.
