Kasaam (Ash), Feb 5, GNA - Danwell Co-operative Credit Union has opened a branch office at Kasaam in the Kwabre District with a reminder to the people to cherish the culture of saving part of their earnings. Mr Emmanuel Afrifa, Ashanti Regional Manager of the Credit Union Association of Ghana who was opening a new office of the union, said this was in their interest and future security. Danwell is ranked among the top performing and viable credit unions in the region with healthy loan portfolio. Mr Afrifa called on people in the area to join the Union so as to benefit from loans to expand their businesses and improve on their living conditions.

Those granted credit should make sure that they keep to repayment schedules to enable others to also enjoy the facility. Mr Adjei Sakyi, the Board Chairman, said they had put in place adequate measures to ensure transparency and protect the savings of members. Mr K. K. Sarpong, also a Board member, said the Kasaam branch, which was started with 51 members in year 2003, now has 300 members.
