Electricity tariff in the country will increase by 11.17%, effective July 1, 2019, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has announced.
A Press release from the PURC said the decision was taken after careful consideration of proposals by the various stakeholders in the power sector.
“The 2019-2020 Major Tariff Review is the outcome of prudent cost review and effective monitoring undertaken by the Commission. Details of the approved electricity tariff and the rationale for the decision will be published on the commission’s website,” the PURC statement said.
Meanwhile, a tariff proposal received from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the decision on it will also be announced in due course, the Commission said.
