Finatrade emerged the second largest buyer of cocoa in Ghana after Produce Buying Company (PBC) for 2011.
The company bought over 100,000 metric tonnes of cocoa from farmers.
Nabil Moukarzel, Executive Chairman of Finatrade Foundation, disclosed this at a dinner organised by his outfit for clients of Continental Commodity Trading Company (CCTC), Sucatrade and Market Direct Limited (MDL).
According to him, the company undertook many corporate social responsibility activities including sponsoring needy but brilliant students and funding model farms at leading universities in Ghana. Also, he said the foundation sponsored six heart surgeries at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, among other things.
Mr Moukarzel stressed that three of Finatrade’s companies were among the 10 top revenue generators to government last year, adding that the company was even the official food sponsor of the Black Stars.
Joyce Aryee, in a speech, re-affirmed the dedication of Finatrade Foundation to supporting the development of Ghana.
Ms Aryee said Finatrade’s objective is aimed at reviving the Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Finatrade is a Ghanaian business created in the country in1995. It has since expanded into the rest of West Africa.
It is made up of three key businesses – manufacturing, distribution and services, with eight subsidiaries across Ghana which totally employ over 2,000 full time people.
