GT organises forum for customers

Takoradi June 9 GNA - Mr Emmanuel Dzito, a General Manager of Ghana Telecom (GT) in-charge of Strategic Business, on Wednesday advised the public to transact business with the staff of the Company only when they were on duty. He gave the advice at a forum organised by the Company to ascertain the needs and problems of the public regarding the operations of the Company in Takoradi.

Mr Dzito said members of the public should not deal with staff on business concerning the Company in their homes. He said staff of the Company involved in such transactions might not be able to honour their promises and thereby disappoint customers. Mr Dzito said staff, who broke the rules and regulations of the Company would be sanctioned. He said the GT had established Call Centres where all faults, complaints and enquiries could be made. Mr Dzito said the Company had launched a programme to inculcate business mindset into the staff and to make them customer friendly. He said incorrect billing; fraud and unfriendly attitude of staff towards customers gave the Company a bad image.


Mr Dzito said the Management of the Company was sensitive to the plight of customers and was taking steps to correct these faults. He said equipment had been installed to ensure more accurate billing and 24-hour uninterrupted service.

Mr John Appiah-Boateng, Western Regional Manager of GT, who presided, expressed concern about the destruction of public pay phones by some members of the public, who inserted metals and hard objects into them. He said it costs the Company a lot of foreign exchange to import spare parts to repair the pay phones and urged those involved in the practice to put a stop to it.
