Accra, March 5, GNA - Normal sales of goods and services in and around the various markets in Accra have gone down due to high purchase in Ghana @ 50 anniversary paraphernalia.
A market survey at Tema station and some parts of Makola markets showed that Ghana @ 50 products such as bracelets, necklace, earrings, poly bags, cloths, T- shirt, scarf and pencils were in high demand. The prices of paraphernalia ranging between 5,000 cedis and 150,000 cedis were the items on the bill of most buyers and even the ordinary Ghanaian.
Some sellers the GNA spoke to, hinted that buying and selling of consumables as well as other hard wares had gone down drastically. Mame Ama, a second hand cloth seller at the Tema station market said,
"I am packing to go home because business is bad today," and this of course is the cry of many shop owners on the eve of Ghana's Independence Day anniversary. 5 March 07
