The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) has launched this year’s Insurance Awareness Month to raise awareness among the public about the importance of insurance.

The campaign aims to improve the public’s understanding of insurance concepts, educate them on how insurance can be used to mitigate potential risks in personal and professional lives, and promote the importance of financial planning.

Speaking at the launch event in Accra, the President of GIA, Seth Kobla Aklasi, emphasized that the public campaign demonstrates the association’s dedication to increasing insurance awareness to boost insurance penetration in the country.

Mr. Aklasi, who is also the Managing Director of Donewell Insurance, encouraged all stakeholders involved in the campaign to work diligently to ensure that many lives are positively impacted through insurance.

"Insurance remains a critical component of safeguarding lives and property so it is vital for us to embark on increased educational campaigns on the benefits of insurance. This is also important to boost insurance penetration which is essential for the domestic economy," the GIA president said.

Mrs. Mercy Koshie Boampong, Convenor of the Public Relations and External Liaison of GIA and Managing Director of Serene Insurance Company Ltd., highlighted that the campaign serves as a platform to educate potential customers who may not be aware of the benefits of insurance, as well as existing policyholders who may have doubts about the benefits of their policies.

This year's awareness month is centered around the theme: "Accessibility and Inclusivity"
