Chairman for the Used Auto Parts Dealers Association Samuel Siaw Ampadu has argued that Ghana could become the hub for spare parts dealers in West Africa.

Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm he said between 2002 and 2008, traders from all the other West African countries came to buy spare parts in Ghana but after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over office and started introducing taxes, these traders stopped coming.

The situation he lamented affected their business negatively. The major tax cuts announced by the Finance Minister he posited will positively affect their trade.

Mr. Ampadu said the tax cuts was an indication that the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta presenting the first budget for the 2017 fiscal year said the Special Levy on Imported spare parts will be abolished. This he noted is a good move by government.
