The number of mobile phone users in Ghana rose to 26.09 million at the end of January from 25.62 million a month earlier, according to the latest figures from the regulator National Communications Authority (NCA).
The figures show that TIGO Ghana lost subscribers, dropping to 3.67 million from 3.70 million in December. Despite the decline TIGO Ghana remains the third-largest operator, after MTN and Vodafone.
MTN's base increased marginally from 11.73 million to 11.86 million during the period, and Vodafone grew by 3.1 percent to stand at 5.42 million.
Airtel's base also increased, to 3.27 million from 3.19 million in December, and the latest entrant Glo Ghana grew its subscriber base to 1.65 million from 1.57 million at the end of 2012.
