Latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) shows that Ghana’s economy grew by 5.1% in August 2025, according to the GSS’s provisional Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG).
The figure represents a 4.9% increase compared to August 2024.
According to the GSS, ICT and Education were the main drivers of growth in the services sector, contributing about 80% to the monthly expansion.
The services sector was followed by Agriculture, which grew by 7.4% in August 2025, up from 2.3% in August 2024, contributing about 27.3% to GDP growth for the month.

Conversely, the Industry sector grew by only 1.8% in August 2025, compared to 9.1% in August 2024. The sector’s weak performance reduced overall growth by 12.2%.
Government Statistician Dr Alhassan Iddrisu explained that the release provides an indication of how Ghana’s economy is likely to perform in each quarter of the year.
The GSS also revised the July 2025 MIEG, reporting a growth rate of 3.7%, down from the earlier figure of 4.5%.
