Accra, June 20, GNA - Cellular communications giants, Globacom, has rolled out plans for operation in Ghana days after winning the coveted licence to start operating in the country. The communication service providers say it is set to roll out very aggressively in Ghana shortly.
Mr Yinka Olafimihan, Head, New Markets, told the GNA in Accra on Friday that, Globacom was about people, service and possibilities, and offering a better service to surpass their competitors remained the dream. He said they were determined to extend to Ghana their "world class" reputation as the harbinger of hope and great things that would ensure that things were never the same as far as telecommunication was concerned. "Globacom will ensure that, the trust so freely reposed in us by the people is not misplaced."
Mr. Olafimihan said the company was consciously founded on the philosophy of elevating people and giving life more positive meaning. He reckoned the task ahead may look tough, but gave the assurance that; "we will meet and surely surpass your expectations". He said Globacom pioneered the introduction into the Nigerian telecoms market numerous value added services which include GPRS, MMS, Glo Magic Plus, Vehicle Tracking, Caller Tunes, Mobile Banking and Blackberry and would travel the extra mile in Ghana to ensure consumers were satisfied. "We will pursue with uncommon vigour and focus to ensure that Globacom will easily be the pathfinder in the Ghanaian market as it is in Nigeria."
The National Communications Authority (NCA) on June 12, 2008, declared Globacom winner of the international contest for its mobile cellular licence. The NCA cited Globacom's superior technical presentation, pedigree and extensive rollout plan for Ghana as among the reason for winning the bid. Globacom becomes the sixth cellular network after Onetouch, Tigo, Kasapa, MTN and Celltel.
