The Board of Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) on Wednesday called on the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Emmanuel Armah- Kofi Buah at his office in Accra.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday said, the board was led by its Chairman, Professor William Asomaning.
The statement said, the board congratulated the minister on his appointment and assured him of their unflinching support to help him achieve the policy goals in the petroleum downstream sector.
It said “Professor Asomaning told the Minister that, the company’s rebranding exercise was to offer a better value to its consumers, which would in turn provide growth, enabling it to provide greater returns to its shareholders as well as be a responsible partner to government’s effort at developing the nation”.
It noted that the new identity of GOIL is as a result of the company’s response to well researched consumer insights, adding that, the move has already begun yielding dividends.
“The board chairman and management would always work to put the company beyond its competitors and expressed the confidence that in creating the sort of image that our stakeholders are proud of, we thus ensure continued demand for the products and services that our employees create” it added.
Mr. Patrick Akorli, the Managing Director of Goil, noted that the entry of numerous oil market companies created a stiff competition, “but the company was on the move and would rub shoulders with its competitors.”
He said the company was looking forward to growing its share of the market by creating a greater affinity for its products and services among Ghanaians as well as foreigners, adding that, GOIL would remain determined in its drive at providing highly ethical, environmentally friendly and socially responsible business practices.
The statement said Mr. Emmanuel Buah thanked the board for the visit and promised government’s continuous support to the company.
”He acknowledged the increased competition GOIL faces amidst the rise in the number of oil marketing companies in the country and urged them to take advantage of the success of its rebranding move, which he said has been effective”.
The statement said Mr Buah urged the company to take the lead in some issues confronting the country, particularly road safety, asking them to partner with the National Road Safety Commission for that purpose.
“He also called on them to focus on new technologies that will enhance service delivery,” the statement concluded.
