Accra, July 27, GNA - This year's Grand Sales at the Ghana International Trade Fair site opened on Tuesday with participating companies promising special discounts and offers for buyers to shop from July 27 to August 8.
Mr Kwadow Affram Aseidu, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiative, who performed the opening, said it aimed at bringing buyers and sellers together to promote commerce. This year's event is attracting over 400 local and foreign participants.
He urged sellers to apply professional customer focussed marketing strategies in order to sustain and expand their existing markets and to employ seasoned marketers to help them to develop a strong information, base on customer needs before they started production to the selling process faster and easier.
Mr Salatheil Doe Amegavie, Chief Executive of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce, who chaired the opening ceremony, stressed on the need for participants to interact with each other in order to establish business contacts and expand their businesses.
Mr Kwame Ofori-Amanfo, Solicitor Secretary of the Ghana Trade Fair Company, said since its inception, Grand Sales had contributed tremendously to the country economy as was evident in the growth of most of the participating companies.
"We began mainly with the players in the informal sector but today most of these people have grown into small and medium scale enterprises and their impact on families by way of income distribution can not be underestimated", he said .
