The Greater Accra Regional Shipper Committee has held it’s 97th meeting in Accra.

The meeting was aimed at addressing challenges confronting shippers in the region as well as find solutions to those challenges.

The acting General Manager of GPHA, Samuel Ntow Kumi who gave a presentation on the port development and ease of doing business said the port authority is committed to creating an enabling environment so shippers can undertake their activities smoothly.

He said while the Port of Tema is being developed as a leading container hub in West Africa, the port of Takoradi is also being positioned as an international oil and gas services hub.

He averred that an efficient port will require the contribution of all players in the clearance chain and therefore charged all the various players in the port industry to eschew acts that could render the port inefficient.

The Deputy CEO of Ghana Shippers Authority, Slyvia Asana Owu called for collaborative efforts between industry players to address the bottlenecks that confront trade facilitation.

The meeting was also used to induct the new Greater Accra Regional Shipper Committee Executives chaired by Barima Dr.Ofori Ameyaw, President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA).
