Young innovators presented technology‑driven responses to climate and environmental challenges at the grand finale of the GreenRes Hackathon 2026, hosted at the University of Ghana.
Organised under the Africa Climate Collaborative in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the hackathon was themed “Transforming Climate Awareness into Climate Action through Technology.”
Since June 2026, participants received technical guidance, mentorship, datasets, and resources to turn ideas into practical solutions.
Five finalist teams, each comprising five members, advanced after a competitive selection process.
Their innovations focused on climate resilience, green jobs, sustainability, and community engagement, with special attention to youth, women, displaced persons, and persons with disabilities.
At the finale, teams demonstrated their solutions before judges and stakeholders from academia, government, the private sector, civil society, and environmental groups.
The initiative ultimately showed how young people can move beyond awareness to become active agents of climate action through technology.
