Kojo Aduhene is the Chief Executive Officer of LMI Group
The Saglemi Housing Project is set to receive major supporting infrastructure, including a dedicated water supply system, high-speed fibre-optic internet connectivity and a proposed railway link to the Dawa Industrial Zone and the wider Tema enclave.
The Chief Executive Officer of LMI Group, Kojo Aduhene, disclosed this when President John Dramani Mahama inspected the ongoing redevelopment of the Saglemi Housing Project.
He said one of the major challenges that has confronted the Saglemi development over the years, the lack of a reliable water supply is being addressed.
He said a new water treatment plant at Dawa is ready, while the pipeline connecting the facility has already been laid and an overhead reservoir is nearing completion.
According to him, the facilities will provide sufficient water to serve the entire Saglemi community.
The development will also feature modern digital infrastructure, with high-speed internet connectivity being extended directly into the estate.
Aduhene said fibre-optic cables are already being laid from Dawa to Saglemi, leveraging digital infrastructure established in the area.
He said every house will be connected by fibre, providing residents with reliable, high-speed internet.
An internal communication system will also allow residents to connect directly with estate security and management services.
Proposed Railway Connection
Aduhene further disclosed plans for a railway connection linking Saglemi with the Dawa Industrial Zone and the wider Tema enclave.
He said the proposed railway would provide residents with an efficient means of commuting to work, particularly those employed in Tema and surrounding industrial areas.
The railway, he added, would also serve workers living in Ashaiman, Afienya and neighbouring communities, while facilitating the movement of industrial goods.
He said the broader vision is to enable hardworking Ghanaians to live in decent homes at Saglemi and commute efficiently to major employment centres rather than depend on overcrowded settlements and long road journeys.
Road and Industrial Connectivity
The proposed railway forms part of a wider development vision for the area, which is emerging as a major residential and industrial corridor.
The Saglemi development is expected to benefit from improved road connectivity and its proximity to the Dawa Industrial Zone and the Tema industrial enclave.
700 Units by March 2027
Aduhene said the supporting infrastructure is being developed alongside the housing component of the project.
He said construction is progressing steadily, with materials secured, site clearing ongoing and underground electrical cabling being installed to provide modern and reliable infrastructure throughout the community.
He gave a firm commitment that 700 housing units would be ready by March 2027, urging Ghanaians to hold him accountable for the deadline.
He further said the full 1,500 housing units in the first phase would be completed and ready for occupation by the end of 2027.
Aduhene also disclosed that LMI is ready to begin the sales process for prospective homeowners, saying the company is committed to delivering a modern residential community supported by the necessary facilities and infrastructure.
President Mahama’s Inspection
President John Dramani Mahama, who inspected the project, expressed confidence that the redevelopment would transform Saglemi into a modern and conducive residential community for thousands of Ghanaian families.
He encouraged prospective homeowners to register once the sales portal is opened, particularly as the development is located within a rapidly expanding industrial corridor.
President Mahama said the Saglemi project forms part of a broader vision to expand affordable housing, increase home ownership and integrate residential communities with major industrial and economic centres.
