Cape Coast, April 24, GNA - MTN Ghana Foundation, a body charged with the management of the corporate social responsibility of the MTN Telecommunications Group in the country, will build 10 ICT centres throughout the country before the end of the year. Each region will have one centre and emphasis will be placed on deprived communities.
To this end the group, which is working in partnership with the
United Nations Development Project (UNDP), will spend 669,000
dollars on the establishment of the centres and is currently in
consultation with the appropriate authorities in the regions to
determine suitable sites for the projects. Mr Frazier Malcolm Appeadu, coordinator of MTN Ghana
Foundation, said this at a day's workshop on proposal writing
organised by the Foundation for non-governmental and community
based organisations, chiefs, opinion leaders, health and education
workers as well as youth groups. He said plans were also afoot for the construction of a modern
intensive care unit for the Princess Marie Children's Hospital in
Accra and that the Foundation which focuses its activities on Health
and education, had refurbished the Maternity Ward of the Korle Bu
Teaching Hospital at a cost of $600,000. On the workshop, Mr Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the
Foundation, said his office rejected some proposals written by some
organisations and communities for sponsorship because they did
not meet its format.
