National leader of the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold has expressed displeasure in CEO of defunct Menzgold Company Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, for signing a new artiste on subsidiary company, Zylofon Music, despite owing hundreds of customers of the gold dealership firm.
According to Francis Owusu, the signing ceremony which was organised with “grandeur, pump and pageantry” over the weekend showed that the Nana Appiah Mensah also known as NAM1 was “insensitive” to the plight of the people he owed.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, he said, “It is a slap on our face. It is an insult to us. As we speak, we have 55 customers who have passed on and if you have money to sign a new artiste how much more about paying your customers. So, it’s to show that Nana Appiah Mensah is insensitive to the plight of Menzgold customers.”
His comment comes on the back of a statement by NAM1, who said the Menzgold company has paid over GH¢9.6 million to its customers even in their state of dormancy.
In an open letter the CEO who is popularly referred to as NAM1 said: “as of now, we hold documentary evidence, clearly showing that we have paid over 96 billion old cedis (GH¢9.6) even in our state of dormancy and continue to humbly make payments every now and then.”
Francis Owusu responding to the claims by NAM1 insisted that the assertions by the embattled CEO was false adding challenging him (NAM1) to show receipt for proof of payment.
In his words, “that statement is frivolous, it’s untrue. It’s a sham because where are the evidences of that deal. This is a man that has been charged for money laundering so where did he get that money to pay? This is a man whose assets have been frozen and his accounts so how did he manage to pay those monies and when did he pay and to which bank.”
He threatened that the aggrieved customers are likely to stage a demonstration to get their monies back.
“We are going to organize a massive protest to demand for our money from Nana Appiah Mensa because we believe that 39 million dollars that has arrived in this country and that is why he has gotten the nerve to open new companies and even assign new artistes.”
