The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has clarified that the decision on whether to sell or reuse properties confiscated from embattled Menzgold chief executive Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) will be made by Cabinet.
Responding to a question during a press briefing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, about the government's intentions for the seized assets connected to the ongoing criminal case, Dr Ayine explained that the fate of the properties depends on their type and the state agency responsible for managing them.
Dr Ayine stated that if the assets are real estate, they would be handed over to the Ministry of Works and Housing to determine their appropriate use.

He added that the option of auctioning some properties and depositing the proceeds into the Consolidated Fund remains a possibility, pending Cabinet's decision.
"When they are handed over to the state, the appropriate authorities will know what to do with them," Dr Ayine said.
"If it is also the case that we should auction them and then put the money into the consolidated account, that decision will be taken by Cabinet and then we will continue from there,” he added.

The Attorney-General cautioned that the process could be lengthy, as individuals indicted in such cases frequently challenge confiscation proceedings in court.
He assured journalists that his office would continue to pursue the matter thoroughly on behalf of the Ghanaian people.
