The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has announced that no shipper using a port in Ghana should bear the cost of delays not caused by the shipper.

In a statement issued by the Authority and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the GSA noted that shippers have experienced significant delays in the delivery and evacuation of containers from the Port of Tema.

These delays have been attributed to the breakdown of scanners at terminals or system glitches, which have had a grave impact on the entire cargo clearance process.

The statement encouraged all cargo stakeholders, consignees, and service providers to promptly report any such costs imposed or paid to the Ghana Shippers’ Authority for investigation.

It assured that where it is established that the delay was caused by systemic failure, a refund would be issued.
