President Akuffo-Addo has indicated that the "One district one factory" project will be anchored on the pillars that will transform Ghanaian agriculture.

In his first media meeting with journalists and practitioners, the president did not fail to recount the rather weak agricultural system in the country.

According to him, the provision of improved seeds, the supply of fertilizers, delivery of dedicated extension services and marketing strategy measures have been put in place for the successful start of the project.

“One District One Factory” programme, which is scheduled to be launched next month, has received tremendous response from various investors across the globe.

With a total of US$6 billion in pledges from both foreign and local investors, the programme is expected to facilitate the creation of between 7,000 and 15,000 jobs per district and between 1.5 million and 3.2 million jobs nationwide by the end of 2020.

However, the initiative, otherwise known as district enterprises, is to establish medium-to-large-scale factories or industrial enterprises that have the potential to fundamentally affect the economy of the districts which would allow for much more evenly spread economic growth and development across Ghana.
