SSNIT pensioners across the country will by June next year benefit from emergency health services to complement what is being offered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
This would be after the launch of the Pensioners Medical Fund in mid June to be preceded by a media launch next Thursday.
The programme is under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and in collaboration with the SSNIT National Pensioners Association.
General Secretary of the association, Edward Ameyibor explaining the rational for the scheme told Joy News, “We have had increasing numbers of our members who have had very serious health challenges which are not covered under the NHIS, so they have come to us for assistance…”
The scheme would cover about 55 thousand Pensioners who are currently members of the association.
