Recall bad fridges: Energy C’sion orders Menkish
The Energy Commission has asked Menkish Impex Limited to recall some deep freezers it imported into the country in 2015.
The Commission said the company’s LGYCF100 deep freezers failed to meet recommended energy efficiency standards and thus should be recalled.
Head of the Energy Efficiency Division of the Commission told Accra News Friday February 12, 2016 that the refrigerators, after being tested by the Commission, were found to be inefficient as far as power consumption was concerned, necessitating the recall.
He also disclosed the firm had been asked to cease the sale of all fridges in stock and to have them returned to the countries from where they were imported.
He called on consumers, who had purchased such electronic equipment, to return them to the points of purchase and demand a refund.
