Mrs Kate Quartey-Papafio, Chief Executive Officer of Reroy Cables Limited, a subsidiary of Reroy Group, has announced the establishment of a private sector-led Energy Consortium to help address the country’s energy challenges.
She said the Group is working with her off-shore partners to add additional 340 Mega Watts Combined Cycle to the National Grid.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mrs Quartey-Papafio who is also the Coordinator of the Consortium said the power to be generated would be dedicated to the use of the industrial sector.
She said providing industries with energy is necessary because the transformation of the economy and the consolidation of gains over the past two decades could best be driven by an industrialisation agenda.
Mrs Quartey-Papafio called on all private sector entities and other progressive stakeholder groups and individuals to come onboard and join the consortium.
She said as private sector operators, the Group heeded the calls for public-private sector partnership and acknowledged the critical role of the players in the development of an industrial economy.
