Management of S.O Frimpong Transport Limited as part of its activities for the year, has donated various relief items including stationeries, school supplies and cash amount to the Save Them Young Orphanage at Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region.

The gesture, which was the 6th edition, was meant to offer assistance and support to the children and to enhance teaching and learning activities and sustenance of the Orphanage.

Each year, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Randolph Obeng-Frimpong, makes it a point to celebrate his birthday with the children of the Orphanage.

“So we’ve been doing this in the last few years as a way of giving back to society and positively impacting the lives of underprivileged children to strive for greater heights as they grow. I usually do this with support from my family as well as the management and staff of S.O Frimpong Transport,” Mr. Obeng-Frimpong said.

He explained that despite being a business entity, S.O Frimpong is motivated annually by the joy exhibited by the kids anytime such donations and gesture was extended to the Orphanage.

“The bottomline for every businessman is to make profit. But it is also imperative that businesses give a little of their resources to projects that could put smile and positively make society a better place” Mr. Obeng Frimpong advised.

He said the company in the future, will consider other needs of the Orphanage as and when it becomes necessary.

“We were approached for a polytank by management of the orphanage and we assessed the situation and found out that they really needed the tank, so we provided it. Since then, we’ve considered the children as part of the S.O Frimpong family and we’ve been doing our best to make them happy each year,” he indicated.

Administrator of the Save Them Young Orphanage, Pastor Nicholas Tandoh, commended S.O Frimpong for being a backbone for the children in the last six years.

“We’ve been existing for 19 years, but a lot has changed when S.O Frimpong‘s intervention begun and they’ve been assisting us a great deal. We’ve not been able to settle our water bills some years back due to unavailability of money; the pipe was disconnected but the company gave us a polytank when we requested for it,” he said.

“This year, we have been very lucky once again to have almost everything we require through this donation and we are very grateful to S.O Frimpong” Pastor Tandoh noted

At the event, the children engaged in dancing competition, Bible quiz, musical chairs etc.

The orphanage is home to missing and abandoned children from the Police, DOVVSU the courts and social welfare from age six to 17 years. It depends solely on donations from individual philanthropists and rarely from corporate entities. The Save Them Young Orphanage was founded by Rev. Dr. Collins Opoku Amoabeng and is currently home to 85 orphans. It has a crèche for kids with most of the children traveling long distances to school in adjourning communities around Ashiaman.
