President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has proclaimed that his government has been able to fix the fragile Ghanaian economy that was handed over to him by the Mahama led administration.
He emphasised that Ghana is changing for the good because the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has been able to do much more than expected, adding that, the state of the nation is “in good health and in good competent hands”.
Delivering his fourth State of the Nation Address in Parliament Thursday, February 20, 2020, the president recounted that “three years ago when I first stood before you, I said “I was not elected by the overwhelming majority of the Ghanaian people to complain. I was elected to get things done, I was elected to fix what is broken and my government and I are determined to do just that”.
“Mr Speaker, we have done just that. We have fixed the broken economy, … we have sanitized the banking sector, our industrial transformation is on…, we are digitizing the economy…”
The economic 'breakthrough' for Ghanaians, President Akufo-Addo believes will allow them to heave a sigh of relief as the economy is now flexible.
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo promised Ghanaians of working harder to ensure that the economy is in good shape for Ghanaians to enjoy.
The president’s State of the Nation address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.
The address is to update Ghanaians on the government’s progress and outline plans for the next financial year.
