All is set for the launch of the maiden awards event to honour Service Stations that are committed to the provision of quality service to consumers of petroleum products.

“It looks like the good works and commitment of some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to provide best petroleum products, through best processes in the best environments deserves high ovation,” according to Purple Energy Ghana, the main collaborator of the Filling/Service Station Awards Ghana (FiSA).

Indeed for the ordinary taxi, ‘trotro’ and private vehicle users, this means a gain in demand for value for money and quality of petroleum products served at service/filling stations.

A statement signed by the FiSA technical team said "the awards are a sure help to the work of state regulators like the National Petroleum Authority and the Ghana Standard Authority in controlling the market against adulterated products and fake ones”.

According to the statement, the Filling/Service Station Awards Ghana (FiSA) will award Filling/Service Stations under the following three main categories;

Capacity Awards, which are best OMC Stations - Human Service, best OMC Stations - Brand/Advertisement, best OMC Stations - IT & Physical Infrastructure, Best OMC Stations - Environmental Friendliness and best OMC – Fuel Economy Adviser.

Then Product Quality & Quantity category, which covers Quality/Quantity Super/Petrol Award (Unleaded), Quality/Quantity Argo/Diesel Award (Unleaded), Improved Fuels – Super/Petrol, Improved Fuels – Argo/Diesel, Best Fuel Card Service and Best Lube Bay

Also, the Individual Awards category, which honour the Most Customer Focused Service Stations Award (Overall), Pump Attendant of the year, Station Manager/Supervisor of the year, Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and National Strategic Programme for fuel quality & quantity at OMC Stations.

The statement said the FiSA awards being a largely consumer survey awards, winning decisions would largely involve opinions from the ordinary consumers of petroleum products and the general public.
