Seven companies on Monday presented items and cash to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) towards National Farmer’s Day Awards. The companies were Ash Foam Ghana, Resigha Limited, Stanbic Bank and Mamavit Foods Limited.
Others were Ghana Chamber of Mines, Wynca Sunshine as well as Frankaston Limited.
Apart from presenting food items valued at GH¢10,500, Mamavit Foods Limited said it would serving over 5,000 people with food on that day. While Ash Foam Ghana presented items worth GH¢10, 000, Stanbic Bank donated a new Nissan Pickup valued at S23, 000.00.
Resigha Limited gave a cheque for GH¢500.00 with Ghana Chamber of mines presenting a cheque for GH¢5,000.00. Wynca Sunshine presented a cheque for GH¢20,000 with Frankston Limited donating a cheque for GH¢ 5,000.00 as well as an amount of GH¢ 3,375 being the cost of drugs and disinfectants.
Mr Clement Kofi Humado, Minister of Food and Agriculture who received the items, commended the institutions for partnering the ministry over the years to successfully organise the awards.
This year’s National Farmer’s Day would be celebrated on December 6 at Sogakope in the Volta Region on the theme “Reducing Post-harvest losses for sustainable food security and nutrition”.
