Tullow Ghana has been given permission to flare gas at the Jubilee Field, a statement from the oil company has said.
The granting of permission was contained in a letter by the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the statement indicated.
Tullow is expected to flare 500 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per month until October 31.
Discussions to begin the exercise are ongoing, the statement noted.
The flaring of gas, according to Tullow Ghana, will not affect its forecast for gross production from the Jubilee Fields this year.
