Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, has advocated for investors to give thought to the housing needs of Ghanaians.

At a short press event to outdoor a six-member business delegation on Thursday, Mr Vanderpuije said investment focus on habitation will keenly boost the economy by giving surety to the working class who want undisturbed domiciles.

The former Mayor of Accra who is championing a cause to expose Ghana’s business potential to United States investors moved to convince the visitors about the challenges in the housing sector and the need to rectify it.

“We have a high housing deficit. If they could invest in some level of housing it will be a breakthrough for people who already hold employment, because I know today when people have to seek for housing they have to pay two years in advance and we need to find a way to eliminate that situation,” he said.

Mr Vanderpuije further proposed for investment towards the infrastructural development in the country.

“We should also find a way to invest into some of our infrastructural needs, be it bridges, drains, roads and economic empowerment in our community, he added.

In September 2016, the NBMBAA invited Mr Vanderpuije to make a presentation at a conference in Philadelphia in the United States on Ghana's business potential to members of the Association.

The business delegation, led by NBMBAA President and CEO, Dr Jesse Tyson, is in Ghana to get first-hand knowledge about the business climate and to identify viable sectors for investment.

The six-member delegation currently in the country is the outcome of the former Mayor's sterling presentation on Ghana viable business environment.
