The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged sweeping reforms to the Bank of Ghana and a revitalisation of the country’s struggling banking and financial sector, should it win the upcoming general elections.
These promises were highlighted in the party’s 2024 manifesto, which was unveiled on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Winneba.
The NDC has committed to restoring banking licences that were unjustly revoked by the current administration, where feasible.
This move is aimed at rebuilding trust in the financial sector and addressing the widespread economic impact caused by the collapse of several local banks.
Furthermore, the NDC’s manifesto emphasises the importance of prioritising local participation across key sectors, including banking, finance, telecommunications, mining, oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction.
This strategy is designed to generate more job opportunities for the country’s youth, driving economic growth and reducing unemployment.
