Accra, March 1, GNA - The President of the World Bank Group Paul Wolfowitz would arrive in the country on Friday evening to participate in Ghana's 50TH Independence Anniversary Celebration.
Briefing newsmen in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Kafu Kofi Tsikata, Head of Media Relations, World Bank Ooffice said the President, who was making his maiden visit to the country would arrive ahead of the schedule to inspect some development projects supported by the bank.
He noted that Mr Wolfowitz would additionally hold talks with government officials, traditional leaders, officials of the private sector, civil society groups, the youth and other women groups.
"During the main anniversary celebrations, he will participate in various official events and hold talks with participating Heads of States and delegations from various countries," he added.
Among the places and projects Mr Wolfowitz will visit are Tema, where he will inspect the Port and Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, the Barry Callebaut chocolate factory; Kyebi to see the community based projects and environmental preservation efforts.
Other places he will visit are: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi where he is expected to address the student's body, meet with traditional authorities and inspect infrastructure works.
