Young Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition to open

The African SME Organisation (ASME), a Private Sector Implementation Partner (PSIP) for the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) would soon launch the Young Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition to inculcate entrepreneurship spirit among the youth at their early stage.

The competition would be introduced at Senior High Schools and the winner will get the opportunity to participate in La Caixa Foundation Competition in Barcelonia, Spain.

Mr Yaw Asamoah, the Executive Director of ASMA, who announced this at a media launch in Accra, said La Caixa Bank based in Barcelonia, Spain together with the China Europe International Business School (CEIB), are voting $100,000 dollars to the competition.

He said the competition in Ghana would be organised by the (CEIBS) in partnership with the NEIP and ASME Organisation.

The competition in Ghana would involve participating schools where one team that would emerge as the champion would go to represent Africa at the international contest in Barcelonia, Spain.

“The winner of the contest in Spain will go for further training at Silicon Valley,”” he added.

He said La Caixa Foundation competition is an annual contest that brings together students from the ages of 14 to 16 years around the world, to compete in an entrepreneurship challenge.

Mr Asamoah announced of an oncoming African SME Summit on the theme, “Micro-multinationals – Scaling up with Technology” with sponsorship from Ecobank in collaboration with CEIBS, Graphic Communications Group, Busy and Uber.

He said the event would bring together speakers from Ghana, Nigeria, USA, South Africa and the United Kingdom and over 1000 delegates across the globe are expected to participate.

Professor Mathew Tsamenyi, the Executive Director of CEIBS, said the business plans that the schools would submit would deploy a curriculum on the topic for the benefit for the rest of the students.

He, therefore, pledged their commitment to ensure the success of the programmes.
