Even if churches may not be taxed, they should be required to publish their accounts and be required to use a certain portion of revenue over income for social services in education or health or environment after all, this is the raison d'etre of Christianity.

Another area - Chiefs need to declare their audited earnings from royalty and expenses each year to their people. In developed countries where they have monarchs, this is published information. By being transparent, the chiefs will be forced to use these funds wisely and for the people, else they will incur their wrath.

But I doubt any politician has what it takes to do this...sad.

During mahama time, what did we see, corruption, underinvoicing over invoicing over inflating etc. We hooted at Mahama the same way we are hooting at Nana Addo. NAna Addo promised to presecute the corrupt politicians in govt, and thats why we gave Addo guy guy 1 million votes to drive away Mahama and to probe the corrupt politicans. Addo Ali Baba the chief thief came, saw that Ghanaians did not ask for the persecution of Mahama thieves, so Addo and his team of thieves took over from where Mahama and cronies left and took the corruption, stealing looting to the level where we are today.. Nahama is planning to come back to protect NAna Addo as Nana Addo hasd protected Mahama and cronies. We need the military to hold these two thieves accountable

A decision to tax any religious entity should not be based on one's faith, but rather on what is in the best interest of the nation. Most religious organizations are just for-profit operations shielded by tax exemption status. Many of the pastors in Ghana use church funds (tithes from parishioners and donations from wealthy individuals and religious organizations overseas) to run their personal for-profit businesses, thus abusing the tax exemption program. A President should never make a national decision based on that President's faith, for voters never intended for their leader to make national decisions based on the President's faith. Ghanaians are already struggling with the abuse of "Presidential Faith" employed deceptively by President Akufo-Addo to claim that he has a right to use public funds to build his sham national cathedral because he made a pact with God to build that sham cathedral. President's should never allow their personal faith to determine how national decisions should be made or laws passed. It's fine to follow certain practices of the West, but when a particular practice isn't serving the nation well, then that nation has an obligation to its people to act to correct the laws that is being abused by its beneficiaries. Tax exemption may be a good idea, but the current abuse of the program calls not for its repeal, but rather for a revision of the law to allow the government to deny such exemptions to those who may caught abusing the program.
