  The issues raised are on point. In recent times, there had been claims by shippers belonging to business Associations like GUTA that more vessels are now calling at neighbouring ports like Lome due to very high port charges in Ghana. The Vice President had had cause to also make the same pronouncement when he engaged a section of the business community in his electioneering campaigns. In responses to these claims both the Director General of Port and Commissioner General of Customs have debunked the assertions. Meanwhile, they did not show any data to disprove the dwindling fortunes of the Ghana Ports
